What are the advantages of mesh nebulizers compared with traditional nebulizers?

2025-05-17

1. Finer atomized particles
The median particle size of the mist particles produced by the mesh nebulizer through the micron-level screen is concentrated in 1-5μm, and the proportion of particles with a diameter of ≤5μm can reach 50%-90%. Such fine particles can penetrate into the alveoli and the ends of the bronchial tubes, improve the treatment effect of lower respiratory tract lesions, and are especially suitable for the treatment of diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The proportion of mesh nebulizer mist particles with a diameter of 3-5μm is as high as 70%, reducing ineffective sedimentation and exhalation waste.

2. Improved drug utilization
The residual amount of liquid in the mesh nebulizer is usually ≤0.4mL (0.8-1.5mL for the compressed nebulizer), which reduces drug waste. The mesh nebulizer supports suspensions (such as budesonide), liposomes and heat-sensitive drugs (such as proteins). Because there is no ultrasonic heating process (traditional ultrasonic nebulizers may heat up and cause damage to active ingredients), it also overcomes the problem of low efficiency of high-viscosity liquid atomization by compressed nebulizers.

3. Portable and silent design
The mesh nebulizer has low noise (compressed nebulizers are usually >65dB), avoiding anxiety caused by noise. The mesh nebulizer supports outdoor use, and the mask-type device can be worn directly, allowing patients to move freely, which is especially suitable for pediatric patients and emergency scenarios.
